Rebuilding the wall of orphan ministry, one family's "brick" at a time |
Let's Rebuild the Wall! |
Children's Blocks |
Children are a precious part of this ministry! We aim to care for God's children, the world's orphans. And we aim to care for our own children that God has blessed us with. And what a beautiful facet we add when we allow our children to help other children! They indeed have some bricks and blocks they can lay in helping us rebuild the wall of orphan minstry. We have 4 children (both biological and adopted), and we are incredibly blessed to have each one of them! They wanted to have a part of this website to share their own ideas and projects with other children. So, "Children's Blocks" is here for our children and your children to plan ways to help care for orphans. The following is a list of ideas that our children have titled "Ways That Children Can Help Orphans." Some of these things they have done already, and others are still in the idea stage. Please gather your children around you and explore your own ideas for caring for orphans. Ways That Children Can Help Orphans: 1) Grow and sell vegetables. 2) Make and sell coasters or pot holders or other handmade items. 3) Knit, crochet, sew or buy blankets for orphans in an orphanage. 4) Collect loose change in a bucket. 5) Sell used toys in a yard sale. 6) Make and sell greeting cards. 7) Tell friends about orphans. 8) Host a bake sale or a spaghetti dinner for your friends and family and church. 9) Host a simple party for friends and ask each person to bring a donation for orphans. 10) Collect needed items and send to an orphanage. God's Littlest Angels in Haiti is an orphanage that has a list of needs on their website. Items are shipped to their office in Colorado. 11) PRAY for orphans every day! Children and their parents can become prayer warriors by contacting Reece's Rainbow for a specific orphan to "pray home." ***For each activity that raises funds, the money is given to an organization that serves orphans. One of our family's favorites is Show Hope. They have a cute bucket you can buy to collect loose change for orphans (at home or church or wherever you go). They also have shirts, devotional guides and other resources for helping you in orphan ministry. Another family favorite is Reece's Rainbow because they have the added bonus of allowing you to SEE and CHOOSE the waiting child to sponsor. This gives a face to "orphan ministry" and allows our children to see the child they are helping. |
