Rebuilding the wall of orphan ministry, one family's "brick" at a time |
Let's Rebuild the Wall! |
About Us |
We are a family of 6 following our Heavenly Father into "the fields of the fatherless." It is our passion to see every child cared for as God desires. In 2007, we found ourselves attending the funeral of our precious son Elijah who had been stillborn. In the days and weeks that followed, we grieved and clung desperately to God. His Word says that He is close to the brokenhearted, and we found that to be especially true as we grieved our son's death. And in that closeness, we heard Him calling us. He reminded us of the gaping hole that we had felt in our beings when they took Elijah from our hospital room. He showed us that it matched the gaping hole in orphans' beings when they lose their parents. He called us to pour out our lives for orphans. He channeled our pain into a passionate purpose to care for His children. And, with that, we began to seek the specific plan He had for us. We wanted to jump right in with all our "good ideas" for serving orphans, but instead we found our feet on a different path. Over the next 2 years, instead of opening opportunities to put our ideas into practice, He led us through hard lessons in humility and trusting only in Him. One day, I asked him why we had to delay our ministry and instead learn all these hard lessons, and He led me to Hosea 14, and the phrase that jumped off the page at me was in verse 3: "...in you {God} alone do the orphans find mercy." I didn't quite understand. And gently He led me to Isaiah 57:15, "The high and lofty one who inhabits eternity, the Holy One, says this.'I live in that high and holy place with those whose spirits are contrite and humble....' " God didn't need all our good ideas for "solving the orphan crisis." In HIM ALONE do orphans find mercy. If we were to be vessels used by Him for this work, we had to drop our own ideas, humble ourselves, and ask for forgiveness. He will live and work through us when we are humble and repentant. We needed to be broken vessels to just let Him pour out of us so that the orphans could find the mercy they needed. It's not about us and our ideas; it's about HIM and His plan! This website was birthed out of numerous mornings on our knees seeking His Will. We pray that He will use this as a tool for reaching many individuals and families who will step forward to care for His children. We pray that the wall of orphan ministry will be rebuilt by His people, humbly down on their knees saying, "Yes, Lord." |
